As the new school year begins, take some precautions to shield your kids from bringing unwelcome guests home inside their newly minted backpacks.
#1 Encourage kids to keep their backpacks, lunch boxes, and other bags off floors.
Remind them to use the hooks and locker shelves provided to them. Bugs can more easily find their way into and on top of your things if these items are on the floor, versus placed on the hooks or shelves.
#2 See a stink bug? Don’t squish it inside the house or school building.
Doing so will attract bugs that like to feed on this type of carcass.
#3 Avoid head-to-head contact (and head-item to head-item contact).
Yes, you guessed it—we are talking lice prevention.
As Healthlinepoints out, remind your kiddos to keep their items (like hats, scarves, and hooded coats) separated from that of their classmates. And, make sure they are not borrowing these items from others.
Also, some studies suggest that ingredients like rosemary, lemongrass, tea-tree, citronella, and eucalyptus can help to repel lice.
